It’s late November and there are Black Friday 2022 ads everywhere. But when does Black Friday really start? Does it already work?
Black Friday doesn’t officially start until November 25 – next Friday. But in many ways Black Friday has started. There is already a huge influx of Black Friday deals, and the annual sales are in full swing at most major retailers.
It is safe to say that we are now deep in the height of the discount season. The best deals of the year used to come on Black Friday itself, but that’s not the case now. Last year, most of the biggest deals launched in the seven days leading up to Black Friday – and then remained relatively static as we moved from Black Friday weekend to Cyber Monday.
In fact, there were very few new deals on Black Friday or Cyber Monday last year in many of the biggest product categories – and some of the best deals from earlier in the month have not returned. This is a trend we expect to repeat this year.
Black Friday deals have started
So far, there are many signs that Black Friday has started. We have already seen many TVs, electronics and home appliances discounted to their lowest prices ever.
Meanwhile, Black Friday week officially kicked off on Amazon UK a few days ago with the launch of the retail store 10-day Black Friday event (opens in a new tab). And most of the major US retailers started their sales weeks ago: We rounded up the biggest deals from Walmart’s Black Friday sale, as well as the biggest discounts in Best Buy’s Black Friday sale throughout November – and watched the deals improve.
That’s why we advise you to keep your eyes open from today. We’re seeing some serious Black Friday deals right now – so if you see a big saving on a product you’ve had your eye on in the coming days, we’d recommend taking advantage of it (unless our advice below says otherwise for that particular product category). The price may drop a bit further, but it probably won’t be much, and you’re more likely to avoid some of the delivery delays expected next week.

Black Friday: when to start shopping
When does Black Friday 2022 start?
Black Friday officially falls on Friday, November 25 this year. However, by all accounts, the mega shopping event has already begun. All the major retailers started selling on Black Friday, and we’re now knee-deep in peak discount season, with many items already at their lowest price ever.
That means it’s time to start shopping now. Our deals experts keep track of all the best Black Friday deals in a special roundup, and you’ll find today’s best deals further down this page.
Should you wait until Black Friday itself to get the best deals?
Generally speaking, no. We believe many of the deals currently available are good enough to be considered the best Black Friday discounts. However, this school of thought does not apply to every product category.
For example, us last year did see further decline in TV prices on Black Friday and Cyber Monday. However, computer deals remained relatively static through the last weeks of November.
Meanwhile, deals on home products are likely to be mixed. Expensive appliances – such as Nespresso coffee machines and Dyson vacuum cleaners – have room for increased discounts in the coming days. We expect these deals to come closer to Black Friday itself. However, for mid-range products, there are now a whole bunch of savings at the top end.
We analyze the situation for each product category in our dedicated Black Friday hubs, so check back regularly for the best deals of the day.
