BetterHelp is prohibited from sharing customer data with advertisers, social media giants

Online consulting platform BetterHelp is sharing user data with companies like Facebook and Snapchat for advertising purposes without explicit permission, the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) says.

The company, which operates under a number of other names, has agreed to pay $7.8 million to consumers who signed up for its services between August 1, 2017, and December 31, 2020.
